Who We Are

Jonestown was originally settled in 1761 by William Jones under the name of Williamsburgh but after his death in 1771, the name was changed to Jonestown to distinguish itself from other Williamsburg's in the colonies.  There are approximately 1,905 residents living in the borough.  Jonestown residents are proud 'Vikes' living in the Northern Lebanon School District - go Vikings!  It is our vision to share the beauty of small town living and to help promote a community of friends and neighbors through locally sponsored events that are held in our community park and town square.  We are proud to say that not only do we support our military veterans but that Jonestown is home to many military families that have members who are serving with the Army and Air Force National Guards at Fort Indiantown Gap.

What We Do

Through the combined efforts of the Jonestown Borough Council and the Jonestown Park, Rec & Events Committee, it is their vision to create a community in which our residents can take pride in their town and their park. Annual events such as the Block Party, the Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration and many others are planned as a way for our friends and neighbors to enjoy the fellowship of each other and to enjoy the great opportunities that small town living can offer. Jonestown boasts a 65 acre community park; walking, running and biking along the Rails to Trails; water activities on the Swatara Creek; and the Jonestown Tour which boasts a walking trail with many historic structures - some that even date back to the 1700's!
