Become a PA MEDI volunteer! 

PA MEDI stands for "Pennsylvania Medicare Education and Decision Insight." PA MEDI is a free health insurance counseling program designed to help seniors with Medicare. 

Most PA MEDI counselors are volunteers who start out as concerned citizens who have a question or issue regarding their own health insurance.  Once they find the answer, they want to learn more and share what they have learned with others!

Many volunteers become certified counselors.  However, other roles can be explored for those able to provide office support, community education, and some counselors are trained in specialty areas. 

Training is provided for free!  Interested? Take the next step by filling out a volunteer application!   

Pennsylvania offers rebates up to $1,000 for those who rent or own property.   Many seniors don't apply for this aid simply because they are confused or unsure how to.  By volunteering with the Property Tax Rent Rebate Program, you'll be helping seniors apply for rebates that might pay an electric bill, heating costs for the winter or simply groceries for the week.  Training is free and the schedule is flexible Monday through Friday.  Best of all, seniors will love you for doing it.

Become a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels with Lebanon County Area Agency on Aging. 

Meals on Wheels has been guided by a single goal since the first known U.S. delivery by a small group of Philadelphia citizens in 1954 – to support our senior neighbors to extend their independence and health as they age.  What started as a compassionate idea has grown into one of the largest and most effective social movements in America, currently helping nearly 2.2 million seniors annually in virtually every community in the country.

A simple knock on a door to deliver a meal brings care, compassion and hope to a life.  We have current route openings in the City of Lebanon that are available.

Support the disaster recovery of individuals, families, and communities through the activities of Casework and Recovery Planning, Recovery Systems, and Community Recovery.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Conduct client interviews: both initial interview and follow-up conversations, according to standards
2. Assess qualifications for direct client assistance
3. Use the Client Assistance System 2.0 to document the assistance and services provided in the client record according to standards
4. Assist with recovery planning, problem-solving and advocacy on request according to standards
5. Provide clients with information and referrals to community partners
6. Learn about the Recovery activities and develop knowledge, skills, expertise in Casework and Recovery Planning, Systems and/or Community Recovery
Has the option to work remotely after completing required training

Disaster Health Services Responders provide disaster health care by meeting the disaster related health needs of clients and providing support to other volunteers.

Support the local disaster response, shelter operations, emergency aid stations, outreach activities, and casework and recovery planning during a disaster relief operation.

Join the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team and play a vital role in disaster response efforts across Pennsylvania. As a volunteer, you will provide immediate assistance and relief to individuals and families affected by emergencies, offering critical support when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Disaster Response: Deploy to single family home fire events, multi-family home fire events and other disaster scenes to assess and assist those impacted.

Client Support: Conduct interviews with individuals and families to identify and address their urgent needs.

Shelter & Relief Operations: Help set up and operate shelters, distribute relief supplies, and organize mass feeding efforts.

Ongoing Training: Participate in regular training sessions to prepare for response efforts.

Technology Utilization: Effectively use smartphone apps and desktop software for case management and coordination.

On-Call Activation: When a disaster occurs during your assigned shift, the Red Cross Emergency Communications Center (Bridge) will call you to confirm your availability to respond.

Our Vet-to-Vet program strives to match a hospice patient who is a Veteran with a volunteer who is also a Veteran, or active military personnel. Offer your gifts of compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement when it is needed most! 

Volunteers talk with patients, hold their hand, play a game, read a book, play music, or just provide a friendly presence.  We also need military veterans to help with occasional Vet Cafes and honor ceremonies.

A few hours a month can make a big difference. Assignments, hours, and locations are flexible and can work around your schedule.

Heartland Hospice is a Level 5 participant in the national We Honor Veterans program. Learn how you can join us to better support Veterans in our community, especially at End-of-Life.

Application, Interview, References, Criminal Background Check, Drug Testing, 2-Step TB Testing, and approx. 12 hours of orientation are required for patient visit volunteers. 

Volunteers provide companionship and emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers can also give the family a needed break to run errands or take a walk. Our patients are located in both nursing facilities and private homes in the Lebanon area.

All volunteers must complete an application form, be interviewed, provide two references, submit to a criminal background check, a drug test, TB screening, and approximately 12 hours of volunteer training.

Pastor Sean Condran Office is looking for a dispatcher to communicate with our drivers and counselors. Dispatchers responsibilities include: Receiving non-emergency calls, monitoring driver logs, keeping records, addressing problems, and dispatching appropriate team members to each call by using a CB radio.

There are Little Free Libraries in a neighborhood within every school district in Lebanon County. The libraries contain free books donated to give access to reading material for children. The boxes that hold these books go through a lot of harsh conditions year round. We are looking for 1 or 2 volunteers who would be interested in maintaining/fixing up the Box that holds the books whenever they are damaged. Someone who is good with their hands and can use tools to maintain the upkeep.

Compeer of Lebanon County is seeking motivated volunteers who want to make a difference within the community and serve or observe on an advisory board or committee to guide and build our organization. 

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteer is a trained citizen (21 years or older) who is appointed by a judge to represent the best interest of a child in court. The children that CASA Volunteers advocate for have been abused and neglected and placed in to the foster care system. CASA Volunteers work to help ensure a safe and permanent home for the child as quickly as possible. A CASA Volunteer is an extension of the "eyes and ears” of the judge.

After screening, CASA Volunteers participate in a thorough training and "graduate" through a swearing-in ceremony where the judge delivers the CASA oath.  Once appointed to a child or sibling group, CASAs work closely with a CASA program staff member who will offer on-going coaching, guidance, and support.

We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. No construction experience is required! Common tasks may include: painting, hanging drywall, installing windows/doors, hanging siding, landscaping, and much more!

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. All volunteers ages 16 & 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity does more than build homes and faith. It also builds leaders. Habitat provides hands-on training and mentorship for new leaders working alongside staff on our construction sites. You will develop new construction and leadership skills while at the same time enriching your community. You will have the opportunity to build a team and build a home from the ground up. Habitat is looking for new leaders to share in this challenge!

The Crew Leader’s principal function is to coach the volunteers to produce acceptable results in a safe manner. A Crew Leader can usually guide four to five unskilled or semi-skilled volunteers. Crew Leaders demonstrate tasks, maintain standards, monitor safety, and ensure that the volunteers have enough meaningful work to have a satisfying experience. A Crew Leader should be a people person, possess some basic construction aptitude, enjoy leadership, and be able to learn tasks quickly and then demonstrate those tasks to others. 

Our crews are currently working in North Cornwall Township in Lebanon County and we plan to begin another project in Lebanon City in the next few months. CompeerCORPS matches Veteran volunteers with Veteran clients who are working through mental health challenges. Our trained volunteers offer friendship and support to individuals struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.

CompeerCORPS volunteers are unique: This is a Veteran helping other Veterans program.

Volunteers get together with their match one hour a week (or four hours a month or so) doing activities you both enjoy, such as watching a ball game, going for a walk, having lunch together, or doing a shared hobby - the opportunities to spend time together are endless! Heck as a Veteran, the opportunities to engage within the Veteran and military-affiliated community is an amazing chance to connect with so many folks who have also worn the uniform of our nation! 

Being a Compeer volunteer is as easy as being a friend! Do you have an hour or so a week to hang out in person or over the phone?

Compeer volunteers spend an average of four hours a month being a friend to someone who is lonely, anxious, or depressed. Our clients are in mental health recovery and need you to be a supportive friend. Volunteers and clients go for walks, watch a sports game, have lunch together, play bingo, or do a shared hobby - the opportunities to spend time together are endless! Duties may include: Lab work, New Patient Registration, taking health histories and data entry

Psychiatrist Volunteers needed to provide care for one 3 hour clinic a month. Any time frame will work. Can do telehealth.

We need additional boat captains and narrators to increase the number of narrated tours we can conduct through the oldest water transportation tunnel in the United States. Training is provided.

Responsibilities and Duties: Using our curricula and materials, connect and educate students,

+ light set up and tear down)

• Hours per week with prep: 2 hours in mid to late afternoon. 

Training: Chalkboard Financial will offer training. Each facilitator will complete 1 training

session and receive the necessary workshop tools to conduct the onsite workshops with students.

A Hospice volunteer can help in many ways: spending time with the patient while the caregiver runs errands or has an appointment; providing companionship for the patient; getting together with small groups of volunteers to sing for the patient; running errands for the patient and family; sitting in vigil with patients who are nearing the end of their journey; providing bereavement support during the bereavement phase; and assisting with office and clerical duties in the Hospice Volunteer Office.

Looking for Groups to help Jubilee Ministries price housewares. The group will receive a tour of our Lebanon Facility. Then the group can help us help the Prison Ministry by pricing small housewares for the Stores, and by doing this you indirectly help the Chaplain's in the prisons.

Volunteers are needed to help students in 3rd - 8th grades in completing homework after school. The homework help center is open 3pm - 5pm, Monday - Friday when Palmyra Area School District is in session. Volunteers typically select a day of the week to volunteer to help students. Volunteers will need to supply clearances and will be required to complete 3 hours of mandatory reporter training (available free, online).

If you are an empathetic and assertive person with a passion for helping survivors, SARCC Lebanon is looking for you! As a Medical Advocate, you would provide supportive listening over our 24-hour rape crisis hotline. You would also get to accompany survivors to Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital for Sexual Assault Forensic Exams and medical treatment. We provide you with 40 hours of training in counseling skills, plus additional training as an advocate. Our convenient online sign-ups allow you to pick the shifts that work for your schedule. This is your chance to advocate for survivors’ needs and provide resources in a moment of crisis. Volunteer Community Educators teach the Lebanon County community about sexual violence and the steps we can all take to prevent it.
